There are several different trail options available in both Savannah and Tybee Island.
Here are six of the most popular trails in Savannah.
Note: all these trails are open year-round and dog friendly (as long as the dogs are leashed).
Travel 25 minutes outside of Savannah to Skidaway Island to hike the Big Ferry trail. This trail is a near-level 2.6-mile loop providing great coastal Georgia views. You start in a marshy forest and then come to a boardwalk and observation tower and end with rusted moonshine still remains surrounding the trail.

Another easy trail at Skidaway Island State Park is the Moon River Downing Piers loop. This 6.8-mile loop is estimated to take 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete. You may encounter bird watchers and fishers on your hike. Make sure to enjoy all the wildflowers you see!

If you are looking for another short trail with historic views, head to the Wormsloe Plantation 15 minutes from downtown Savannah to walk the Wormsloe Historic Site Trail. This loop is 3.1 miles long and takes about 55 minutes to complete. It is also considered an easy hike. As part of the hike, you can see moss-draped oak trees, historic ruins, and beautiful coastal views.

A super short, easy-to-access local trail is the Forsyth Park Loop. Located in downtown Savannah, this 1.8-mile loop throughout the park will take you 20 minutes to walk. Enjoy the park scenery including statues, cascading fountains, and massive oak trees.
Daffin Park is an 80-acre scenic and amusing downtown park in Historic Savannah, Georgia. Located next to Savannah’s Grayson Stadium, it is known to locals and visitors alike as Savannah’s Baseball Stadium for the famous Savannah Bananas entertaining baseball games. When it's off-season, Daffin Park becomes the local spot to host many events year-round for all to join in on the fun.
Hike along the historic Savannah-Ogeechee Canal constructed in the 1820’s. The trailhead is located off I-95 and Ft. Argyle Road and goes for about 6 miles.
If you are looking for a shorter hike, there is a short loop near the museum. Before or after your hike, check out the museum for a more detailed history of the canal.
Here are two of the most popular trails on Tybee Island.
The Cockspur Island Lighthouse trail on Tybee Island is an unpaved path that ends with a nice view of the Tybee Island Lighthouse. Only 2.3 miles, this should take about 40 minutes to complete.

The McQueen’s Island trail runs parallel to the Savannah River filled with short bridges to get over marshy areas. While a longer trail at 6 miles, there are several benches offering opportunities to rest or snack while enjoying the beautiful nature around you.
