Truth be told, October kicks off the fall/winter Holiday season with the celebration of Halloween! If you are a fan of spooky, Savannah is the perfect place to spend Halloween. From its eerie past to chilling testimonials of ghost activity, we’re sure you will find the right Halloween event for you.
Here are South Key Management’s recommendations for ways you can experience Halloween in Savannah in 2022.
If you love running and celebrating Halloween, this is the event for you! The Islands YMCA is once again hosting a Trick or Trot 5k/10k race on Wilmington Island.
This is a great local race with multiple distance options (5k walk, 5k run, 10k walk, 10k run) on an easy course. The race is made even more fun by those who dress up! You can go all out with a full costume or just accessorize your regular running gear with a Halloween t-shirt and socks or headgear!
After the race, you will be treated to FREE pancakes provided by the Rotary Club of Savannah.

Fort McAllister State Park in Richmond Hill is once again offering their annual candle lantern tour! Between 6:40pm and 10pm, you can purchase tickets for the whole family to go on a historical tour led by candlelight. With knowledgeable and friendly tour guides, horse-mounted soldiers, and night-time cannon firing, this will be a tour you won’t forget!
Spots fill up quickly so if you are interested, make sure you call or visit the Park Office starting September 15th. You find more information here.
Okay, if you have a four-legged friend you HAVE to check out the annual Wagoween weekend in Savannah. This year, starting on October 22nd and continuing on October 23rd, participants (and their dogs!) will be able to walk through Savannah to take part in this fundraising event. Due to COVID the event is spread out over two days – from 12pm to 5pm each day.
All proceeds from the weekend go to local pet rescue agencies.
Make sure to dress up yourself and your furry friend as you navigate to over 100 businesses that are giving out dog treats and other goodies. Humans need to purchase a wristband to collect treats for their dog.
There will also be a costume contest, raffle, and photo ops! As a matter of fact, here’s a picture from last year’s Wagoween photo booth featuring our very own Founder, Chase, his wife Giovanna and adorable pup, Patti.
