4 Indoor Kid Activities in Savannah, Georgia for Family Fun

Savannah is a city known for its history, walkability, shopping, and great restaurants. While most people who come to Savannah opt to spend time walking to their destination, taking in the gorgeous scenery, there are times when you may want to do an indoor activity. For example, if you come to Savannah with little ones in need of kid-friendly activities to give their legs a break, or if it’s a rainy day and you need to stay dry for a bit without completely losing out on experiencing Savannah.

Whatever the circumstances, South Key has a few recommendations for things to do if you need to enjoy some time indoors during your visit to Savannah.

1 – Turn up the fun with Exhilarate Savannah

Exhilarate is an indoor play center for kids AND adults! Their wide variety of activities ensures that everyone in the family will be included. They describe their different play areas as:

2 – Dare to play at DEFY Savannah

Another fun indoor play center is DEFY Savannah, offering “a collection of extreme air sports” where individuals can challenge themselves to new heights (pun intended). DISCLAIMER: Activities are geared more towards pre-teen kids, teenagers, and adults rather than younger children and toddlers.

While the activities located at each DEFY arena do vary slightly, overall they offer the following sections:

4 – Visit Savannah Museums

Savannah is an incredibly historic city and there are still many historic buildings that exist. One of our favorite family friendly activities in Savannah is to explore the many museums and historic houses.

Here are some of our favorites:

  • Owen-Thomas House and Slave Quarters – learn about Savannah’s history with a self-guided tour as you walk through the Owen-Thomas house mansion built in 1819.
  • Telfair Academy – fortify your artist needs with 19th and 20th century European and American art pieces, stop by the Telfair Academy (located near the Owen-Thomas house).
  • American Prohibition Museum – visit the first and only museum entirely dedicated to the history of prohibition in the United States. For those 21+, sign up for a 2-hour cocktail class to toast to the 21st amendment!
  • Webb Military Museum – check out various antiques like military artifacts from significant wars and battles in the United States. This will be a true taste of Savannah’s history in the making.
